William Hill quotes Ballabriggs as 16-1 co-second favourite to record a history-making double in the Aintree highlight, where he features in the betting alongside Synchronised and Alan King’s Becher Chase winner West End Rocker.

David Pipe’s Cheltenham Festival and Royal Ascot winner Junior, favourite 12-1 with William Hill, is set to carry 11st 2lb, and has been the subject of steady support in recent months.

Midnight Chase (25-1) and fellow McCain entry Weird Al (33-1) are at the top end of the weights on 11st 8lb, while Nicky Henderson’s Burton Port, not seen since when taking runner-up spot in the 2010 Hennessy, has been alotted 11st 7lb alongside Quel Esprit (both 25-1).

Quel Esprit was cut to 16-1 from 25-1 by William Hill for the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup following victory in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown on Sunday.
William Hill spokeswoman Lucy Rhodes said “Quel Esprit gained that well-deserved Grade One success, however, given the proximity to Roberto Goldback it didn’t appear the strongest of renewals, and it’s going to be a big ask to compete with Long Run and Kauto“
Earlier on the card, the Dermot Weld-trained Hisaabaat was cut to 12-1 from 25-1 for the Triumph Hurdle following victory in the opening race. The firm also shortened Willie Mullins representative Darroun, who beat Hisaabaat at the same venue last month, to 16-1 from 20-1 for the Festival.

Dr. PJ Moriarty Novice Chase winner Last Instalment was left unchanged at 7-1 for the RSA Chase, while Benefficient, the 50-1 outsider who caused an upset in the Deloitte Novices’ Hurdle, was cut for the Albert Bartlett (20-1 from 33-1) and the Neptune (25-1 from 50-1).

The Roger Varian-trained five-year-old, winner of the William Hill Spring Mile in 2011, tops the betting ahead of James Fanshawe’s Primaeval, runner-up in a competitive handicap at Meydan recently, at 11-1.

The Godolphin pairing of Man of Action, who beat the market leader over the Town Moor mile at the St Leger meeting in 2011, and Start Right, formerly trained by Luca Cumani, are joint-third favourites at 12-1.

Other notable contenders include the winners of the last two renewals, Penitent and Sweet Lightning, who are quoted at 16-1 with William Hill.

Richard Fahey has his usual battalion of runners, with seven entered for the Malton yard, while owner Dr Marwan Koukash is also well represented in the mile highlight – with a total of eight.

William Hill spokeswoman Lucy Rhodes said “With two previous winners, the reigning William Hill Spring Mile title-holder and two Godolphin entries all towards the head of the betting, not only does this year’s William Hill Lincoln have particular strength-in-depth, but also looks one of the most open affairs seen at the initial entry stage for several years”

William Hill quote Dai Walters’s star at 5-1 for the long-distance Cheltenham crown, whilst he is 7-4 favourite in their ‘betting without Big Buck’s’ market. With Nicky Henderson not ruling Oscar Whisky out of another Champion Hurdle attempt, the firm quote the son of Oscar at 9-2 to win at the Festival.

The bookmaking sponsors have priced up a number of Seven Barrows specials, where Henderson is 7-4 favourite to be leading trainer at the March highlight and 3-1 to train the winner of the Champion Hurdle.

William Hill quote the Seven Barrows handler at 15-8 to train the winner of the Champion Hurdle.

Last year’s Triumph Hurdle winner Zarkandar is also available at 8-1 ahead of fellow Paul Nicholls hopeful Rock On Ruby at 10-1. Triumph runner-up, the Dermot Weld-trained mare Unaccompanied, is quoted at 12-1.
